About

"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together".
As cliché and overused as that proverb is, it is at the core of why 'The Writer's Room' exists.

The Writer's Room was born out of a yearning for community.

Community not just in the writing sense, but one rooted in the Nigerian and African experience.

To tell better stories, we must talk to one another.
We must know one another. Together, we can begin to unravel and unlearn our Western filtering. We can ask questions that challenge each other, in order to get to a place of truth, rooted in authenticity.

The goal is to make each other better writers so we can tell better stories. It is also to enjoy ourselves in our individual and collective creative experience. We believe that success is only sweet, when everyone at the table can eat.

So start a thread, comment on a post, make friends, find a writing buddy - the room is yours.

"Writing may be a solitary mission but you are not the first or the last person to experience it. So let us trade war stories and strategies. Together, we can tell our own stories in the way they deserve to be told - truthfully, beautifully and authentically.
