Hey everyone,
There are some newsletters I’ve come across that have helped me become a better writer or in some way, have helped my writing journey so I thought to share:
1) Books and Banter by Ope Adedeji- In this newsletter, she shares writing tips that work for her; as well as intriguing short stories. She’s currently on a break but you can read previous editions here: https://ope.substack.com
PS: Some of my favourites are: ‘The personal rewards of clear writing’ and ‘How resistance produces the finest writing’
2) Story club by George sanders - This is a great resource for those seeking to understand the world of short stories. Think elements of a great plot, how to write captivating endings, the anatomy of a story etc
Ps: most of the content require paid subscription.
3) The writers job: If you’re looking for writing opportunities, then you should be should be subscribed to this newsletter. They deliver new writing opportunities to your inbox weekly.
I‘m personally not subscribed to this because I follow @callforsubmissions on twitter. They do basically the same thing.
I guess that’s it for now, hope this helps! Also what are some newsletters on writing , that you’d totally recommend?? Please let me know!☺️☺️
Okey!!! Nice to see you here 💕 and yes! Call for submissions is the truth!!! So many opportunities to pick from.
Thank you for sharing this. I did not even know about @callforsubmissions on Twitter. I should check out these newsletters...and subscribe to them.
Thanks for this Anjola! Hadn't heard of these so will add them. I follow a couple of newsletters but I need to learn to pause and actually read their content when they land in my emails rather than put it off indefinitely hehe.
-Curtis Brown Creative has one- they give helpful writing tips and interview published authors. Sign-up is at the bottom of the screen: https://www.curtisbrowncreative.co.uk/blog
- I'm also subscribed to First draft by The Republic where they interview Nigerian writers, but again, I do a horrible job of reading it! https://republic.com.ng/category/first-draft/
Thank you
I am almost ashamed to say this but I have never once signed up to a newsletter for writers. I might have not even known they exist.... lol. Thanks so much. Will definitely sign up so my emails can get clogged by useful content and not ASOS and Amazon...
